Heinkel He111

He111

Designed as an airliner before the war, the Heinkel served during the Spanish Civil War and was the plane most symbolic of Germany's aerial blitz on London during the Battle of Britain. By 1942 it was outdated and largely relegated to transport duty. Later in the war, it served as the launch vehicle for the first V-1 buzz bombs. It was known as "the Spade" by its crews.
